As this ETF is priced in USD, a USD FCY Securities Settlement Account is needed. WEESTOCK needs to fund the account with USD by using LiveFX. The exchange rate that is offered by Standard Chartered LiveFX was USD$1: SGD$1.36498 whereas the mid market rate is $1.35928. A spread of 0.0057. The spread is much poorer than FSMOne but the advantage is that Standard Chartered does not charge custody fee and no minimum brokerage fee for Priority customer.
One way to reduce the spread of the SGD:USD exchange rate is to open a USD High Account. This account allows you make deposit in USD at the branch without paying 1.5% commission. This allows user to exchange SGD to USD through money changers that may offer better rate than the LiveFX. Money Charger Rate: $1.360 vs LiveFx: $1.36574 (17 Oct 2020 Rate Information) . Please take note that there must be no pen marking on the note else the bank will not accept the note for deposit.
